Public Trench Dig

Join us for a special event, part of Cambois Hidden Depths, a partnership with The Tute, Cambois.

Join local historian and archaeologist Barry Mead, prepare a trench for an actual dig in a field in Cambois. Barry is an archaeologist of 47 years and is a Heritage Lottery Local Hero as well as winner of the Community Archaeologist of the year in 2019.

We are working with Barry on ‘Cambois Hidden Depths’ finding local stories and hopefully local artefacts. Barry will be leading an archaeological dig with young people from Cambois Primary School on 20th and 21st May and we need your help to prepare the site.

As well as help set up the dig, you will learn from Barry about archaeological digs and what he has discovered over the years.

Free event but please pre book as spaces are limited.

I have worked my socks off for 45 years in archaeology and heritage but I have loved every minute of it and get great enjoyment from helping other people to do the same by discovering history on their own doorsteps.
