Help us raise £2,000 in a week

This year we’re delighted to take part in The Big Give Arts for Impact match funding campaign, supporting arts and culture charities across the UK to engage new donors in supporting their work.

We have seven days between 18 – 25 March 2025 to raise £1,000, which the Big Give will then match fund, pound for pound. Every donation, no matter the size, will make double the difference.

Why support us?

Double the Difference: Our aim through the BIG Give is to raise funds to inspire and work with young people, highlighting the possibilities of work available in theatre production.

Since 2010 there has been a 70% drop in young people studying performing arts.  That’s really worrying. Where will our future creative talent come from?

The Society of London Theatres (SOLT) and UK Theatre have highlighted how difficult it is to recruit people with key technical theatre skills.  We can’t produce a show without technicians, and we can’t always recruit people with these skills in the North-East.

November Club has developed its GROW talent development programme, a strand of which includes showing young people what a fulfilling career in the arts can look like and igniting their interest in being part of that.

If we don’t act now, it will affect demand, especially for locally produced theatre and increase its production costs. Help us to act now!

Where the money will go

Every donation made this week will be doubled through the BIG Give to enable us to engage young people in our next major production, Josey (you can find out more about Josey here):

We will:

  • deliver sessions with the young people who have co-created Josey to show how their ideas have been built into the production;

  • invite pupils to attend dress rehearsal & workshop on the creative process to understand how plays are built and to engage interest in creative careers;

  • offer practical stage management/technical skills work experience for an ‘A’ Level student & offer a work shadow opportunity for a higher education student.

We worked with young people in South-East Northumberland on the first iteration of Josey and it was so powerful for them to see their ideas being taken seriously and then used in a live performance. There are so many opportunities to work in theatre and a huge part of my role is spreading that message through schools and inspiring the next generation of theatre makers right here in the North-East. The funding through the BIG Give will allow us to talk directly with young people and ensure their voices come through in the final production later in the year.

We know that arts and culture can have a huge, meaningful impact on lives - whether through improving mental health, decreasing loneliness or providing the disadvantaged with access to fantastic arts experiences and opportunities.

Help us inspire the next generation of theatre makers right here in the North-East and reach our target of £2,000.
