Share your stories and memories about Otterburn Mill!
November Club has been commissioned by Otterburn Mill to create an immersive theatre experience for summer 2025 celebrating the heritage and legacy of the mill and Northumberland's textile industry, part of a larger project funded by The National Heritage Lottery Fund, to carry out essential conservation work on the tenter frames at the mill.
Writer Becci Sharrock is creating a script that will transform spaces within Otterburn Mill, including some that are usually off limits to visitors, with performances that interpret moments of the mill’s history.
Before she puts pen to paper, Becci would like to meet people who have a story or memory about Otterburn Mill that they would be happy to talk about and contribute to the project.
If you have stories to share, we invite you to join Becci for a cuppa and a chat at Otterburn Primary School 1 – 3pm on Tuesday 15 October 2024.
She'll be assisted by pupils from the school, who have been working with her/November Club to learn about oral history and develop skills to interview people about their experiences.
"I can't wait to meet and speak to people with a connection to Otterburn Mill and I know that the young people involved in the project will have a great time thinking up some brilliant questions to help us piece the stories together.” - Becci Sharrock
